NEW LEADERS

Week 9 saw Denton at the top of the League after defeating Irlam. Chris Hilton (63*) top scored in Irlam’s 165-10 before Steve Roebuck’s first fifty since 1995 (60) gave Denton a five wicket win.

Prestwich’s comfortable win at Cheetham Hill moved them up to second. Vilas Kutty (48) and Rana (43) top scored in their 187-10 with Chris Humphreys, Craig Duxbury and Steven Lorenzini taking three wickets each. Then 63 from Duxbury and an unbeaten 93 from Ian Walker saw Prestwich to victory.

Woodhouses dropped to third when they could only pick up one point at Woodbank. Neil Ridehaugh (61) and Sajid Shah (78) starred for the home side and then Shah took 4-36 as Mike Cassidy (85) proved the main resistance in Woodhouses 179-8, passing 400 runs for the season along the way.

A good run chase by West saw them stay fourth after Glossop racked up 250-6d. Bhatiya Perera’s eighth ton (109*) was backed up by 46 from Steve Bates and 47 from Matt Knight with Robin Morris taking 5-69. Morris then scored 56 and with 83 from Gareth Senior and unbeaten knocks from Lee Dale (44) and Glen Bullock (49) gave West a seven wicket win.

Dukinfield stayed fifth with a win at Thornham after totaling 263-2d. Andrew Gleave 9860 and Kabil Akram (108) put on 164 for the first wicket followed by an unbeaten 49 from David Gandy. It was Akram’s first ton and then Andrew Eastwood (4-41) got to work in helping dismiss Thornham for 141 (Israr 38).

Chasing 111, D.S.L. had a ten wicket win at Roe Green with Matthew Wake (71) and Barry Williams (26) the not out batsmen. Earlier Sean Flegg had scored 62 for Roe Green with Dave Morrell taking 5-65 and Jason Bennett 4-39 for the Saints.

Stand moved up five places and a point behind Flowery Field after dismissing them for 82. Trent Scott took 5-41 and Lee Chadwick 3-6 before 37 not out from Chris Holt guided them to a four wicket win after being 3-3 (Damien Eyre 4-40).
