PRESTWICH’S Under 17’s showed their senior sides the way by winning the Greenhalgh Cup.

The second team bid for an incredible sixth Hulme Trophy victory in seven years when they travel to Denton on Sunday while the thirds meet Greenmount in the Hodson Cup Final on August 24.

But first, it was the turn of the youngsters to grab the glory at The Heys last Sunday, overcoming a more experienced Denton team with a superb all-round display.

Prestwich’s batting line-up all chipped in, as they reached 180-9 from the 40 allotted overs. James Wharmby top-scored on 31, and Sam Holden and Tom Gibson both struck 27.

In reply, a top-notch fielding display by Prestwich – who held 8 catches – helped dismiss the visitors for 132, despite a gritty knock of 38 from Rickets.

Tom Barling took 3 for 20 and Tom Gibson and Joe Walmersley both claimed two wickets each as Prestwich prevailed with 48 runs to spare.
