Sunday's display at a sun drenched Denton West proved the saying 'if your good enough your old enough' as a youthful Lancs County league side ran out 2 wicket winners in a major nail biter against a much more experienced Bolton League outfit.

Skipper McAllister lost the toss and was asked to take the field and an early breakthrough from Prestwich's Tom Barling with the score on 15 give early encouragement however the score was 98 before the next wicket came with Jordan Williams clean bowling the dangerous Parry (63).

Another stand of 70 from man of the match Lane (63) and Taylor (53) saw the visitors in the strong position of 178 for 3 with 12 overs remaining. However some fine bowling with two smart stumpings from Jamie Williams and tight accurate off spin from Barnett at the end saw a fine fight back from the home side as at tea Bolton reached 222 for 6.

McAllister was out in unfortunate circumstances with the score on 24 but hard hitting Barnett (43) was punishing anything too full, however when he departed Matty Holt (62) & Janak Patel (34) kept the Lancs County lads up with rate with a combination of fine cricket shots from Holt and raw hard hitting from Denton's Patel.

Nick Bridgford (16) & Jamie Williams (20) swung the game back the home side's way with Williams taking three excellent boundaries from the 40th over.

However wickets were now becoming a concern with 8 down but in the 43rd over Jordan Williams decided it was time to wrap the game up as he sent a towering six into the clubhouse and a neat cut for four saw his side home with 9 balls to spare to cap a tremendously gritty performance from a very talented bunch of young cricketers.
