During the Walkden Cup defeat to Denton, Ridehaugh’s score of 86 was an extra special one for the Woodbank man as he notched up his 100th score of 50 or more for the Brandlesholme Road side.

“It was a special moment for me to achieve this milestone, it takes some doing to get 100 fifty’s for one club, and it would have been nice to  have achieved it with a ton and a Woodbank win but that wasn’t to be.” Ridehaugh said.

Since joining Woodbank in 1994, Ridehaugh has enjoyed a flourishing career with the highlight being the Walkden Cup win in 2003, where he notched up another half century.

“That win was special, not only because the club had gone so long without winning anything, but for the way we won it and the party afterwards.” He said.

“When Milno (Chris Milnes) hit the winning runs to emulate what his father did previously and then lift the trophy was something I’ll remember for a long time.”

Prior to joining Woodbank, Neil played for Rochdale and also played internationally for England’s indoor side before committing himself to the outdoor game and signing for Woodbank as professional in 1997.

Since then, Neil has never looked back and has achieved many records and milestones in his glittering 14 year Woodbank career, with his 10,000th run coming in 2006.

“To score 10,000 runs was also a special moment for me, and was probably one of the most nervous runs I have had since I started playing.” Ridehaugh said.

Not only has Neil been successful for Woodbank, he also captained the Lancashire County inter-league side before stepping down in 2006.

Now a dedicated clubman and committee member, Neil will hope to improve Woodbank’s poor start to the 2008 season on the field, and hopefully achieve more milestones’ in years to come.
