Saturday September 8th was a tremendous day and a great success. We were well received at all clubs with some very generous donations along the way, cheques, bar takings returned for the Charity - FANTASTIC! It was a 93 mile round trip in the bus and I guess we walked approximately 3 miles round the grounds. All the guys made a great effort with their fancy dress (it doesn't come naturally honest). The schedule was completed at 19.10 when we arrived back at West to complete our lap of honour and this was due in no small measure to our Driver/DJ Simon Lowndes who did a wonderful job on the day - I don't think we would have made it without him (massive thanks to Si). Anyway on to the serious stuff. We have raised somewhere in the region of £4,400 which was beyond our expectations - brilliant effort, well done to all players, umpires, spectators, bar staff, tea ladies, wives, partners, children, club officials, mums and dads, aunties and uncles the list is endless - to everyone a big thank you! Another special mention though must go to our highest sponsorship earner Chris Mulroy who was worth £750 on the day - a stalwart in every sense of the word. Well done Chris a good Habit to get in to! So there we have it, we had a great time and met some great people just like any Saturday in the Lancashire County League - Well done again! Cheers, Phil Jackson |
